“It’s unbearable.”
Those were the words used by FUT Esports head coach Vlad following the team’s 2-0 loss to 100 Thieves, a match that was plagued by over 40 minutes of tech pauses.
Controversy arose in the second round of the series, a FUT anti-eco round.
xeus, the FUT player who experienced the tech issue on stage, described issues with his mouse sound, as well as his PC freezing. He also spoke on those issues in his post-game press conference.
“These issues have been persisting since the tournament began and they seem to be continuing as well,” xeus told Ult Orb. “The solutions that seemingly have been found or have been trying to be found are really elementary solutions; they don’t really work.”
Before xeus had answered, his teammate yetujey leaned closer to the mic to put his foot down as well.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful to you guys, but I don’t care about Riot, so I will not join this,” he said, in reference to the press conference.
xeus recapped the round, describing that his Spectre, which had 30 bullets, would not shoot in a 2v1 situation, resulting in a round loss that was not rolled back.
“I couldn’t even pull my Classic out,” he said. “Technical issues have been happening. sociablEE has been having audio issues. I’ve kept on having technical issues, and I’m hoping someday at some point these issues can be resolved.”
Vlad also chimed in, adding context to xeus’s technical issues, saying that they were diagnosed before the match even began. He also says his frustrations go further than one isolated incident.
“We had a compliance meeting regarding exactly this kind of situation one week ago,” he said. “The guys told us that even if there was some kind of damage in the round to a player, we could have a rollback in this kind of situation.
“This is happening in a 2v1 situation. What else do we need for a possible rollback? Like, what more possible feature do we need?” Vlad said. “Everyone saw. His gun didn’t shoot for a second, and then it was too late. He was dead. I’m really amazed by the decision from the admins and referees.”
Vlad also said that it’s not just issues with xeus’s PC that FUT had to deal with. Alongside the aforementioned audio issues, he said that the team had issues with on-stage lighting, too.
“We had lighting issues. Admins have been telling us this has been the setting for the lighting for the stage for one week, and my team is saying it wasn’t the case for [the] JDG game,” he said. “And we have been struggling with the lighting issue for like, six rounds maybe… The only feedback we’re getting from the referees is, just plug your earphone off and on again. It’s unbearable, to be honest. I got nothing else to say.”
After the loss, FUT will await the winning team between T1 and JD Gaming in Group A’s Decider match. The match will take place on October 2 at 2 a.m. PST/5 a.m. EST, or 5 p.m. local time.
