VCTCNPosting’s ‘Who do I root for?’ guide through the Champions Shanghai playoffs

With VCT China going a combined 0-8 through the Champions Shanghai group stage and missing out on the playoffs, many fans of teams from the event’s host nation are left without a team to root for.

VCTCNPosting has you covered, with a guide on a few teams VCT CN fans can put their support behind through the end of Champions 2026!

With the CN teams being eliminated from Champions Shanghai in one fell swoop, some fans of the region may be at a loss for who they should support throughout the rest of the tournament. Below are some reasons that fans of the Chinese region should support each remaining team.

If you are looking for a team with a player with roots to VCT CN, Nongshim RedForce should be the place to look. The team’s in-game leader and Controller player Rb was once a member of the Titan Esports Club roster and has the support and love of his previous teammates. Nongshim and Rb are currently in the lower bracket of the playoffs after suffering a close 2-1 loss to Team Vitality, but will look to stay alive against Americas champions 100 Thieves.

Speaking of Team Vitality, the team currently has Yinsu as an ambassador. She has historically supported the CN region, even appearing on the analyst desk during Stage 2 of this year, and has been showing the team different aspects of Chinese culture, feeding them snacks and even teaching them Chinese calligraphy.

Another team with strong ties to the region is Paper Rex. The players on the roster have close ties to the EDward Gaming roster, having met them in-game and collaborating many times in the past. A few of the players also have ethnically Chinese ties, making them a great candidate for CN fans to support. The team made it through to the playoffs too, but is tasked with a lower bracket run that starts against Pacific foe T1.

The players of LOUD themselves have also made an effort to connect with Chinese culture in Shanghai, learning Chinese words and even opening Chinese social media accounts. The growth of support has been quite impressive, and the players are well-loved by many CN fans.

There is, of course, the self-proclaimed final team of VCT CN, G2 Esports, or ‘Ji Tu Valorant’. The players are close with several of the Chinese rosters, with several jersey swaps and pieces of content coming out of each international. After going 2-1 in the group stage, G2 is in the playoffs, having already won its first game against 100T.

In recent years, many teams and players have started branching out to Chinese social media, mainly opening Weibo accounts to connect with Chinese fans. The ones that stand out in particular are 100T, NRG, and T1.

100T has perhaps the best-kept Weibo account, with relatively consistent posting since the beginning of 2025. The players have also been enjoying Chinese culture in Shanghai, even donning traditional Chinese attire and taking some lovely pictures.

NRG has also had a Weibo account since 2024, but it has been relatively inactive until around July of this year. More content and posts are now being made, with Chinese captions and subtitles for CN fans to enjoy. The Champions Paris winners opened their playoff record with a 2-0 win over T1, and will take on LOUD in a rematch of the Americas Stage 2 Lower Final.

Finally, T1 is a rather mixed bag, as it has the biggest and longest-running Weibo account of all teams, but it is shared across all of the organization’s Esports teams. While the biggest focus of the account is the org’s League of Legends team, there is still quite a bit of Valorant content there for VCT fans in China to consume.

In general, there is good reason for Chinese fans to support any of the eight remaining teams in Champions Shanghai. Each team deserves plenty of love, so pick one that you connect with and enjoy giving your support to the players!
